Are Women Taking over the world?
|
Sat down last night to watch the new BBC Drama "Bodyguard"
Within the first 10 minutes we saw a crack police assault squad led by a Woman followed by a woman elite sniper and finishing off with a woman bomb disposal officer tackling a suicide bomber.
Jobs for the girls at the beeb, equality gone haywire or a true reflection on today's world?

I hope we had some representation from the disabled? And some of the cast were non whities and at least one from an ethnic minority and at least another who was openly gay or transgender.
And non of these "minorities" were playing bad people, only white males can fill those rolls
It was the BBC after all......

the underlying message was that the suicide woman was weak and led by her husband. All of the female cops were wrong and hungry for blood and the only male cop there was able to bring the situation to a calm resolution.
I’m not sure if that is what the bbc had in mind though.

Having said that, there is a revolting squishy softness about the leadership style in Western institutions, which comes across as feminine. I can see why people might think women are taking over - their talky-feely way of doing things is increasingly becoming the norm for men, too, unfortunately. I think it's more about feminine traits, and it's permeating down to ordinary people in their attitudes (see the OUTRAGE on the WHO thread about Ben Stokes being a normal bloke, getting pissed and having a fight; or all the 'knuckle-draggers' comments directed at football hooligans).
In terms of sheer numbers, I'm sure it's still men mostly running stuff. It's just than more and more of them are feminine in their outlook.

Of course not silly.
Everyone knows it’s the JUWES that run the world.

Women like to have a go until they get a period or want a baby or get emotional. At that point everyone needs to take a break.
In reality not such a bad thing.

Quite enjoyed Bodyguard.
Did laugh when said Bodyguard was trying to usher the Minister inside when she was being confronted by the Chief Whip. Whip gets annoyed at 'plod' and refers to him as a monkey who needs some nuts. Bodyguard (who is Scottish) says I AM MIXED RACE and Whip's face drops. 2018 IN A NUTSHELL!
Agree that the world of management is being feminised. You just need to learn how to play it (* practises crying and talking about FEELINGS when you need to get out of stuff*)

Sven we'll have none of that. What are you? A person of no specifically identified gender, or a mouse?

The two Ronnies sketch "the worm that turned" is a far more accurate foreshadowing of the future than Atwood's "handmaiden's tale" that's for certain.

The good question is when were women turned into bimbo sex symbols? And why?

Women shouldn't be allowed on the telly. Political correctness gone mad.

There are women holding those jobs in real life so not sure why some think it odd that they would be portrayed in those roles in a work of fiction.
